ESGI Teacher Survey Analysis

1.            53 out of 76 (68%) teachers responded to the survey.

2.            We found that:  more than 75% of respondents communicated with parents at least once a week, while 25% communicated with parents on once monthly or quarterly. Communication (whole-class) between teacher and parents occurs more than once a week with 13% of respondents, weekly with 64%, monthly with 17%, and quarterly with 6% of respondents.

3.            92% of respondents reported using newsletters to communicate with parents, 30% of this same group also communicated with parents on the telephone.  The remaining 8% used e-mail or a class webpage for communication with parents.

4.            The following kinds of information are shared with parents:

  • Class schedules (34%)
  • Assignments (64%)
  • Classroom/School activities (80%)
  • Student progress (64%)

5.   When the progress is reported

  • 12% generate a weekly student progress report
  • 19% generate a monthly student progress report
  • 77% generate a quarterly report card
  • 46% generate a student newsletter
  • 4% do not generate any type of student progress report

6.            38% of the respondents have not heard of ESGI, 17% have visited the website, 15% are familiar with the software, and 31% use ESGI regularly.

7.            50% of respondents prefer the initial training in one 90-minute session.  31% of respondents said they would prefer the initial training over two 45-minute sessions, and 19% would like three 30-minute sessions.
